Update Registration

Registered Student Organization may have changes in leadership throughout the year. The information below will help your organization navigate how to remove and add an authorized representative after the initial registration period. 

Update Constitution

An updated constitution is required for registration and for your organization's governance.

To create a new constitution or update an existing one, redirect to the following quick links:

  • Constitution Guidelines - This guide will demonstrate the essential elements in how to create a Constitution for your student-initiated organization.

  • Student Media Constitution Guidelines - This guide will demonstrate the essential elements in how to create a Constitution for your student-initiated organization.
  • Fill in the Blank Constitution - This form will allow you to enter the information that will govern your organization by filling in the blanks. You may edit this form online but please print this form and turn it into the SOAR Office so your advisor may review your constitution.

Change an Authorized Representative

To remove an authorized representative:

  1. The student stepping down must email the request to the organization advisor, the other authorized representatives, and soar@ucsc.edu
  2. One other Authorized Representative must reply to the email (including SOAR) to acknowledge the student is removed

To add an authorized representative:

  1. One existing Authorized Representative must email the organization advisor the name and email of the student joining
  2. The advisor will directly email the new Authorized Representative the interim online Application for Registration
  3. The new Authorized Representative must:
    • Complete the interim online Application for Registration
    • Watch the Online Orientation videos
    • Take and pass the Registration quiz with 100%
  4. SOAR will verify the update to the registration
